Bodrum or ancient Halicarnassos which is the hometown of Herodotus, known as the ‘Father of History’, is a typical Aegean sea-side town with white-washed houses and narrow, winding streets lined with cafes, bars pubs and restaurants. Bodrum has a lively, friendly, Bohemian atmosphere and is the meeting place of the Turkish art community. Renowned for its relaxed informal style and its abundance of daytime fun-filled activities and nighttime excitement, it is impossible to be bored.

 


Gümbet (distance to Bodrum 4 km)

Though officially it remains a suburb of Bodrum, Gümbet has grown to become a resort in its own right, with its own character, temperament and appeal. Many of the popular hotels are to be found in and around Gümbet Bay. It is known for its watersports and nightlife and is the favourite place for the young and young at heart!

                   

                

Bitez (distance to Bodrum 7 km)

Bitez has a long beach in the shape of a half moon. Both, beach and sea are very clean and as the sea deepens gradually it is ideal for children. Contrary to Bodrum and Gümbet it is more tranquile and peaceful. Many foreigners have chosen this area as their residence place.

Turgutreis (distance to Bodrum 25km)

Turgutreis has become, after Bodrum, the largest residential area of the peninsula. It has expanded quite rapidly over the last few years as a new marina with shopping area has been build. It has its own park, supermarket and cinema and is more modern than Bodrum. Nevertheless it has retained a village atmosphere!

Gümü?lük (distance to Bodrum 25km)

Gümüslük is the Turkish word for Silver . This peaceful village is one of the oldest settlements of the peninsula. Everything is so cute here, retaining its identity as a village and popular for its excellent fishrestaurants all along the shore. The best times in Gümü?lük begin with the twilight of the evennig. Here the morning comes late and the evening descends even later. As the sun passes over the hill late, it turns the sea in the evening into thousands of different colours. Your feet are touching historical ground here, it is the harbour of ancient Myndos.

                

                

Yal?kavak (distance to Bodrum 20km)

The small town of Yal?kavak is situated in the northern part of the peninsula and still supports a thriving fishing industry. The area of Yal?kavak is very large and allthough a new big marina has been built recently, the centre itself retained a village atmosphere, quiet, unhurried and relaxed.

                 

              



Gündo?an (distance to Bodrum 17 km)

Gündo?an is only a few minutes away from Yalikavak. It is a peacufull area but in a few years time this area will expand as many projects already have started.

Torba (distance to Bodrum 5 km)

Only a few km away from Bodrum, the little village of Torba, hidden in a charming little bay, is a quite and pleasant settlement and has an amazing beautiful bay. It is the nearest village located North of Bodrum. This part of the peninsula is greener as the winds are more humid. Here the pines almost grow right down to the coastline. It is only active during the summer months, but due to the generally high quality of the holiday home developments is a pleasant and relaxed place to visit. There are also the remains of a Byzantine monastery, and nearby is a small path leading to the next bay, which is ideal for a little light walking.
